This webinar seeks to identify and discuss how different regional integration initiatives could foster the effective implementation of the right to academic freedom and university autonomy in the LAC region. Such initiatives may include the mobility of teachers and students, protocols for responding to attacks on academic freedom suffered by members of the university community, the strengthening of research on academic freedom, among other aspects. It seeks to emphasize the relationship between academic freedom and university autonomy and its contribution to the strengthening of democracies in the region. Understanding academic freedom and university autonomy as one of the pillars of democracy implies including these issues in the center of public debates in the region.
