
Researcher and activist with a background in constitutional law and academic freedom joins the Coalition as of April 15
The Coalition for Academic Freedom in the Americas (CAFA) announces the appointment of Fernando Romani Sales as Program Officer, effective April 15.
Fernando is a PhD candidate in Constitutional Law at the University of São Paulo (USP) and was a visiting researcher at King’s College London (KCL), School of Education, Communication & Society. He holds a Master’s degree in Law and Development from the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV Direito SP) and a Law degree from the São Bernardo do Campo Law School (FDSBC).
He is currently a researcher at the Center for the Analysis of Freedom and Authoritarianism (LAUT) and a fellow of CAFA and CLACSO in the program “Strengthening comparative research and critical thinking on academic freedom in the Americas.”
At CAFA, Fernando will contribute to the planning, coordination, and implementation of the Coalition’s main projects and initiatives, including thematic consultations, regional dialogues, advocacy strategies, trend monitoring, and the promotion of academic freedom across the Americas.
