The Journal Higher Education and Society (ESS) of the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC) opens its call for Issue 2 of Volume 36, which will include the thematic dossier: “Academic Freedom. Risks and threats” and will be under the responsibility of the professors of the Universidad de Guadalajara (UDG-México): Ricardo Pérez Mora, Blanca Inguanzo Arias and Carlos Iván Moreno, as guest editors.

This dossier calls for papers that encourage discussion and analysis of the processes, risks and implications that threaten academic freedom in a complex and volatile context, characterized by interdependence. To this end, papers are expected to address the issue in its different logics: bureaucratic, market, power, cancellation and freedom itself. These aspects can be expanded in the base document of the call for papers.

The closing date for article submissions for this issue (General Section and Dossier) is September 29, 2024.

All submissions must be made through the platform of the Journal Higher Education and Society (ESS) where the rules and submission formats are available.

The general editor of the ESS Journal, Carlos Iván Moreno Arellano (General Director of Virtual University and Digital Learning of UDGPlus), reminds that each article received will be subject to anonymous external peer review (double blind).
