CAFA strengthens its institutional framework and membership

The Coalition for Academic Freedom in the Americas (CAFA) continues to advance the strengthening of its institutional structure through the creation of a Communication Protocol for its membership and improvements to the process of welcoming new members. These initiatives aim to consolidate clear, respectful, and secure internal communication, as well as to strengthen participation and a sense of belonging within the Coalition, in line with its mission to defend and promote academic freedom across the Americas.

The new Communication Protocol establishes criteria and good practices for exchanges among members, including expectations regarding the purpose and relevance of communications, respectful and non-discriminatory dialogue, confidentiality and data protection, the appropriate use of internal communication tools, and the responsible representation of CLAA. At the same time, progress has been made in improving mechanisms to expand the membership, ensuring processes that are clearer, more transparent, and aligned with the Coalition’s values.
